Kids Clothes Week Outfit #1 – Vintage Monkeys Jeanine Jumper

This past week I decided to join the Kids Clothes Week Challenge which involves sewing for  your little ones for one hour each day for a week.  I have a mile long list of things to sew before #3 makes her arrival, so I had hoped this challenge would give me a kick in the butt to get things going.

I was able to complete 2 (and a half) outfits in the week, which isn’t that bad considering how slow I’ve been moving lately–and with everything else we’ve had to do to get ready for the baby.

Outfit #1 is the Sis Boom Jeanine Jumper from the Scientific Seamstress.

Jeanine Jumper

I adore rompers–they’re cute and fun and very practical for active kids.  This pattern is a recent release from Carla at the Scientific Seamstress.  Usually I’ll snap the pattern up right away, but it’ll take me ages before I get around to sewing it.  Not this time!  I knew I wanted Miss P to be in rompers this summer so I put this project to the top of the ole list.

I chose to do the short shorts, drop waist with elastic option and I’m really pleased with the results!

Since these first few pics were taken, I’ve added ric rac to the yoke to give it a little more definition.  I also added elastic to the legs as I felt the shorts flared out a bit too much for my liking.

Much better methinks!

I used a vintage cotton monkey print from my stash.  A lovely lady I met a couple of summers ago at a craft fair gifted me her entire fabric collection as she no longer sews.  It’s the gift that really keeps on giving–it was a massive collection!  Thanks again Carol!!

I’m really happy I added the elastic to the legs–now this Monkey can really giver on her home away from home–the trampoline!

My sewing goals of late have included making matching/coordinating ensembles for Miss P and #3.  I know it’s super dorky, but matching outfits–how cute is that?!  The 1/2 in my KCW projects is the half finished Itty Bitty Baby Dress for #3 in the same monkey print.

When #3 decides to make an appearance, you know I’ll be all over that photo op so stay tuned!
