Over the River and Through the Woods… Pattern Testing for my Fave Pattern Designer

Hello there!

I’ve been keeping a secret which I’ve been dying to spill!  And today, I can finally I can share my Top Secret Pattern Testing Assignment:  The Storybook Pinafore for Girls by my go-to, favourite pattern designer, Jen, from Tie Dye Diva.  You know she is my Fave because the majority of the posts on this blog have featured TDD patterns.  I luuuurve them ❤

The pattern is a vintage inspired pinafore meant to be worn atop a peasant or similar type dress or tunic.  In this case I used Jen’s Easy Peasant Dress Pattern which pairs perfectly with the pinafore.Image

For the assignment, I knew immediately which fabric I would use for the Storybook theme–and yes, you guessed it, I’ve been hoarding it for a while 😉  It’s the most beautiful and special Little Red Riding Hood cotton fabric from Japan.  Isn’t it just the cutest fabric you’ve ever seen?!

The accent gingham fabric came from Fabric.com, as did the red Kona cotton that I used for the under dress.  As you can see, the pinafore pops over the head and ties up at the sides in sweet little bows.  Pockets are always a bonus for my little Miss P who will fill them with bugs and rocks at every opportunity 🙂

The little flutter sleeves are so vintage-y and girly–adorable!Image

We’ve had a rather late start to Spring here in Calgary, and when we did our photo shoot a couple of weeks ago, it was absolutely FUH-REEZING!  Miss P was the ultimate trooper however, and we had lots of fun!

Thanks for stopping by today–I’m so happy I finally got to share this post with you!

If you were interested in sewing up one of these babies for a little one in your life, now would be a great time to do it!  The pattern is on sale in her shop for the next couple of days–and if you buy 2 more patterns (like the Peasant dress, perhaps), you can use the coupon code “BUNDLE” to save 25% off your purchase!

Have a wonderful day!
